POTS & Copper Line Replacement

Your copper lines are being retired. Most businesses have not counted theirs.

Elevator phones, fire alarm panels, burglar dialers, fax, gate callboxes, and card terminals still run on analog lines the carriers are actively discontinuing — while repricing the survivors. We inventory every line you have, tell you which are code-mandated, and migrate them to managed cellular or VoIP before the disconnect date.

  • Nov 2026 AT&T discontinuance effective date in 18 states, including NC
  • Code elevator and fire lines cannot legally be abandoned
  • Free line-by-line inventory and exposure report

Sound familiar?

What we keep walking into

If any of these describe your situation, the fix is usually cheaper and faster than you have been told.

You received a discontinuance or grandfathering notice and nobody has worked out which lines it actually affects.

A line item on the phone bill has quietly multiplied and nobody can explain what the line even does.

Your elevator phone and fire panel are on copper, and both are required by code — so "do nothing" is not an option.

Nobody has a current inventory of analog lines, so the exposure is unknown until something stops working.

What you get

Scoped properly, priced across the market, managed to go-live.

  • A full analog line inventory — every BTN, every circuit ID, what it terminates to, and what it costs you today.
  • Code review: which lines are mandated by elevator and fire alarm standards and therefore cannot simply be cancelled.
  • Migration to managed cellular or VoIP endpoints with battery backup, line supervision, and monitored connectivity.
  • Cutover coordinated with your elevator company, fire alarm vendor, and alarm monitoring provider — not dropped in your lap.
  • Disconnection of the copper only after the replacement is tested and the monitoring centre confirms signal.

Questions

Before you ask us

Is this actually happening or is it a sales pitch?

It is on the public record. The FCC adopted an order in March 2026 (dockets 25-208 and 25-209) that removed the previous replacement-adequacy test and shortened the objection window. AT&T subsequently received approval covering roughly 90,000 customers across 18 states including North Carolina, with an effective date of 15 November 2026, and Lumen has issued grandfathering notices in 14 states. Ask us for the filing references and check them yourself.

What happens to my elevator phone?

It still has to work. Elevator emergency communication is governed by ASME A17.1 and fire alarm communication pathways by NFPA 72 — those obligations do not disappear because the carrier retires the copper. The replacement has to be a supervised, monitored path with battery backup, not a consumer cellular device stuck in the machine room.

How do I know which lines I actually have?

Most businesses do not, which is the whole problem. Send us a recent bill and we will build the inventory: every line, what it terminates to, what it costs, and which ones are code-mandated. That costs you nothing and takes a few days.

Can I just cancel the lines instead?

Some, yes — dead fax lines and forgotten modem lines get cancelled outright and that is pure savings. Elevator, fire, and alarm lines have to be replaced rather than removed. We will tell you plainly which is which.

You will not get a generic brochure back. You will get the providers who actually serve your address, priced side by side, with install intervals and any construction cost disclosed up front.

Where, and how big?

This is what lets us check which carriers actually reach you.

A full address gets you a serviceability answer instead of a range.
